Now this is a nice simple Twin Peaks episode. Just your basic, meat-and-potatoes storytelling about interdimensional vortices, murderous spectral woodsmen, mystery diseases, ancient symbols, and prophetic dreams about cherry pie. Easy peasy lemon squeezey!
In all seriousness, this is in many ways the most straightforward episode of Twin Peaks Season 3 to date. Sequences are largely self-contained rather than cross-cut, non-narrative surrealism and dream logic are kept to a minimum, and the continued sense that we’re getting somewhere across multiple storylines provides a natural gravitational pull, sucking us into the story — just like an interdimensional vortex.
