Even though the thought of voluntarily subjecting myself to more Stephen King at the moment isn’t a particularly appealing one, I heard good things from a friend who saw an advance screening of The Mist, which the trailers had kind of turned me off of. (Just seemed too ersatz Spielberg; I prefer the real thing.) MTV’s got a whole bunch of clips from the movie up. I really hope it’s good. (Via Bloody Disgusting.)
I caught a critic’s screening of it last week.
It’s kind of all over the place.. actually it’s totally schizophrenic, but in a way that’s never boring. I don’t know if “good” is quite the right word, and the CGI really is quite terrible in some places, but I’ll tell you I was never bored. It’s best when it focuses on the people and weakest when it focuses on fending off monsters, with the exception of one or two passages…
See it. Matinee style.
That worries me, because I’m not going to a movie like The Mist for the human drama.
