You have no idea how hard it was not to just title this one “Smoke on the Water” and call it a day.

I’ve been getting really into your new format of reviews but I was a little let down by this one, and made me think of your postings on here. Primarily it was that after “He, and “Blackwater” director Neil Marshall, showed me something I’d never seen before” I didn’t get a clear sense of what that thing was, and I feel that on the site here you would have been able to delve into multiple different facets. For example, you say “let’s treat spectacle as spectacle, first of all.” Great, let’s! But then it’s not so clear where the 2nd, 3rd, ect frames of analysis come in, as it seems you move on to different set pieces.I guess the “other” bit was the screams of agony, but it seemed to serve more as a segue than a seperate frame of anayslys.
Does that make sense? Is that fair?
