So I should stop reading it now before it starts sucking?

  2. Now now.

I look at Twin Peaks as having two seasons, which it actually did, but I break it up with the resolution of the Laura Palmer storyline. Immediately after that it suffered for a while with some ill-advised “funny” storylines and, depending on what mood I’m in, the James Hurley noir storyline, and some not-so-intimidating-compared-to-BOB antagonists like Jean Renault and the scenery-chewing Windom Earle. But this was a rare case where delving into the mythology of the show was a really good idea, and it ended very strong. And Fire Walk With Me is scary as hell.

My utter respect for Sean’s love for Twin Peaks (which mirrors my love for Melrose Place) precludes me from saying anything even remotely snarky. When somebody just enjoys the hell out of something that much, you’ve got to just step aside and let them have it. It honestly makes me smile how much you love that show, Sean.

    WOW BOB WOW

Fire Walk With Me has some scary shit in it, that’s for sure. Good movie. I always liked Moira Kelly before they killed her and replaced her with that person that managed to pull the opposite gender Gavin O’Herlihy on West Wing.

I also liked the way that Fire Walk With Me came out on I think exactly the day when the world’s collective reserve of not wanting to see any more Twin Peaks was at its highest level.

To be honest I don’t remember anything about Twin Peaks after the BOB conclusion except for Heather Graham and a speech by the General/Colonel/Major/Whatever character. I watched every episode, too.

  6. Shaggy: This post was pretty much made with your reaction in mind.

Tom: The funny thing about post-“Who Killed Laura Palmer” Peaks is that it sort of mirrors Lost, in that the VAST majority of the show’s official mythology didn’t get introduced until after the conclusion of the first season. (Again using my personal definition of seasons one and two.)

Also, without giving it all away, the final episode of Twin Peaks (more specifically, the final 10 minutes or so) are almost like watching Darkseid begin to take over a universe. The feeling I had – and the way I just kinda stared at the tv screen – when I saw that for the first time was well worth making it all the way through the weaker parts of “season two.” And definitely worth making it through again.

  8. I’m in the middle of my third go-round with the series. Looking forward to that stuff like crazy.

BTW, you realize who this makes Mary Marvel, right?

  9. Rickey Purdin says:

Gah! Looking forward to my second!

    Who? WHO?!

  10. Well, Laura, right? Fire walk with Desaad.

  11. Ben Morse says:

Laura is currently appearing regularly on the soon-to-be-cancelled Dirty, Sexy Money. I couldn’t figure out why she looked familiar for the longest time.
