Carnival of souls

* Apparently, Marvel may have decided they don’t need Jon Favreau for Iron Man 2. Favreau himself says they haven’t even gotten in touch with him about it yet. That’s pretty stupid of Marvel. Perhaps the outcry all over the Internerd will shame them into bringing him back.

* FourFour’s Rich Juzwiak pays photographic tribute to Anton Corbijn’s biopic of Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis, Control. Unforgivable that I still haven’t seen this, I know.

* I’ve been waiting for the right time to link to Karl Kerschl’s lovely webcomic about a mute Sasquatch/Yeti and his misadventures in a forest, The Abominable Charles Christopher, and today’s installment seems like the right time:

  1. Jim Treacher says:

No, but see, Iron Man is a success not because of anything Favreau did, but because of the inherent appeal of Marvel’s characters. You don’t remember the smash hits featuring Captain America, Daredevil, the Punisher, the Hulk…?

  2. Matt M. says:

What Treacher said. Remember, Bendis didn’t make Daredevil popular and/or interesting again. Just like Miller didn’t do it before him.

The character of Daredevil was inherently interesting and engaging in and of himself…

  3. Maybe Tim Story is available to work some of that Fantastic Four magic?
